Obed Takes You To Space; Wayo Shares His Champion Banana; And Slim Drumz Announces His Arrival
Obed – Space
The production on “Space” from Obed, is the perfect embalment for a song with such title. It’s eerie, soothing and peaceful. With its blend of electro, dance, jazz/soul enchantments, Obed serves yet another excellent tune that exhibit his knack for sonic experimentation. On “Space”, Obed sings about love and the light it brings him in dreamy, semi- pitched vocals.
This doesn’t come as a surprise considering his last single, “Sober” follows in that stead. The song got a further endorsement when it made the playlist at #DecafLive- an event where four music geeks share their playlist with an audience. Obed belongs to a new crop of Ghanaian artists who are not just pursuing a musical lane they love, but are creating musical sounds that challenges the musical taste buds of the Ghanaian.
Wayo – Champion Banana
Afropop act, Wayo has finally released a video for his second single ” Champion Banana”. In the video, Wayo is swarmed by women of different ethnic persuasions who model and flirt with him.
Wayo courted attention on the music scene following the release of the Kuvie produced “Muscatella” featuring Joey B. On “Champion Banana”, the Atlanta based Wayo tells a lady friend how he’s ready to keep her secrets if she’s willing to taste his ‘champion banana’.
Slim Drumz feat Medikal x Magnom – Yaaba
Taadi trap lord, Slim Drumz has a peculiar charisma that consumes you when you hear him on a song – whether he delivers a full verse or just a hook. He’s not the gifted lyricist you’d think, but he brings an infectious vibe to the table. That aura is present on ”Yaaba” (We’ve Come).
The trap heavy song has the rapper talking about his position on the music scene, Medikal brags about his success (”park the benz behind the Rang Rover”) and Magnom is enchanted by a lady with big bum. Like most trap songs, this clearly should be on your turn up playlist.
