PRESS RELEASE: La Paillote Takpekpe ‘ANDOUNYA’
”ANDOUNYA” is a record album which was generated by Gabonese rapper Natural and afro jazz musician Balinga, a Nigerian born in Niger.
Abduraman Balinga (aka Realface) is a renowned musician whose music has been “inspiring the soul” for more than (20) years. His travel around West Africa has influenced his music style in a way that some call “Afrojazz” while others call it ‘World music”. His mixing of African traditional instruments like the Bamboo Flute, Talking Drum and Maracas with western instruments makes his music very melodious and unique. He sings about repatriation, patience, love, faith and against forceful marriages.
Natural is a rapper from Gabon who has been in the music industry for the past fifteen years. Among his numerous albums is one titled “Resistance” which he launched in the year 2011.
The two musicians met at a francophonie festival at Alliance Francaise Accra in 2011. They began working together since then and have recorded three albums so far. “Andounya” is the first one they are launching. “Andounya” means life in Zarma language in Niger. Their concert at Alliance Francaise Accra on 29th July at 7:30pm will be a live performance of what they like to call “afro-rap”. According to the two, the album is a collection of songs that talk about issues related negative social behavior, realities of life, ecology and nostalgia. Their aim is to promote unity and oneness among Africans and hope to use this album to express their thoughts on these issues.
There will also be a screening of their short movie, titled “l’expression de la conscience Afro” which literally means “the expression of the Afro (African) consciousness”. The movie seeks to express the current reality of life in Africa, problems of social injustice, social political system as well as the pressing issue of Xenophobia in Africa. It also seeks to promote love, peace, unity among Africans.
They promise their audience a night of good music for the mind and soul. An unforgettable performance that will help promote African unity.

I like both titles;
“Expressions of Afro Consciousness”
as well as “Married but Available”
They both call out to my curiosity. I do hope to make it to both events. Thanks for the update.
