THE WRITE EXPERIENCE III: TROTRO TELEPORT THEORY
In its third year, The Write Experience illuminates pathways of cultural movements and shared histories in West African countries with TROTRO TELEPORT THEORY.
With experimental film making via a mobile residency as artists from GHANA, TOGO, BURKINA FASO, CAMEROON and BENIN meet and share to create new forms of expressions and collages inspired by folk storytelling/poetry, music, dance, graffiti and theatrical movements, we document what it means to be West African without the limits of time and restraints of physical borders.
The project follows with a concert where we show the film and feature performances of poetry by the renowned Akwapim linguist- FAPEMPONG, a dance installation by EVELYN GALLE; a student from the University of Ghana drama & dance school and actress from the Yolo TV Series fame, a xylophone rendition by NANA SENTI, trumpet solo by PETER SOMUAH and a musical visit from 1968 by veteran Porpor musicians- NII NOI NORTEY and the ACCRA TRAIN STATION.
With this project, we use the arts to map out our connections through language, spirituality and creative cultures in West Africa. You’re welcome to join us in this historic encounter.
