KYEKYEKU LIVE AT ALLIANCE FRANCAISE ACCRA
Alliance Française Accra presents ‘Kyekyeku’- a concert by a young Ghanaian musician who explores classical African music in various forms such as Highlife, Afrobeat and Folk Palmwine. He is known by his energy and dance moves on stage. Saturday, 22nd October, 2016 at Alliance Française Accra Amphitheatre at 8pm.
The re-discovery of classic African music styles of Palmwine, highlife and Afrobeat goes into high gear with Kyekyeku; brilliant guitarist, songwriter and performer putting all of these styles under one umbrella with a much anticipated performance come Saturday 22nd October, 8pm at the Amphitheatre of Alliance Française, Accra.
Style and Collaborations
With a sound locked between folk, urban and a throbbing highlife beat, Kyekyeku comes across as a link between the old and new generation of Ghanaian music, having performed extensively with Agya Koo Nimo and live collaborations with Pat Thomas, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Wanlov the Kubolor, C Real, Peter White etc.
Reputation and Band
Kyekyeku has been known on the Accra live music scene for a while now as an amazing performer whose take on social commentary, artistically crafted tunes and dynamic performances elevate the audience into a different realm of thought and ecstasy. With his band 5-days-no-Light-off, Kyekyeku touches on social issues as well as fun stuff all to stimulate the audience to have a good time yet, to engage positively in solving societal problems.
Journey so far and Future
This year Kyekyeku’s musical journey has seen him play some of the biggest stages in Ghana, Africa and Europe with Rabat, Paris and Zanzibar his next stop.
Kyekyeku live at Alliance Francaise would be a good moment to catch him in his home city at a concert which will feature longtime friend Wanlov the Kubolor with appearances from Sollo7, the Abajo All-star Band, Band FRA, Frank Kissi and Opoku Mensah.
Media features
International attention came by way of CNN African Voices, Forbes Afrique Magazine and Radio France International for Kyekyeku following earlier features on BBC radio but that was only matter of time as his hard work, great music and overall positive vibe indicated.
ALBUM
Kyekyeku’s premier album ‘HIGHER LIFE ON PALMWINE’ exhibits the subtleties of Ghanaian music and re-visits the old vintage highlife and folk Palmwine sound with a modern twist all self-produced by the musician.
By all means, this is one concert not to be missed so grab a ticket at the entrance with your family and friends, sit and relax but don’t waste the dance floor because there will be copious amounts of music to dance to.
Saturday 22nd October, Alliance Française Accra, 8pm.
