FATOUMATA DIAWARA, OTHERS SET TO THRILL AT ALLIANCE FRANCAISE

Malian music sensation, Fatoumata Diawara is set to headline this year’s Francophone Festival at Alliance Francaise, Accra in a concert to mark the official opening of a week-long celebration of French music, film and arts.
Fatoumata Diawara, who was born in Cote D’Ivoire to Malian parents and now lives in France, is renowned for her ability to infuse traditional Malian or Sahalian music with modern or European musical influences. Fatoumata’s sensuous voice and music not only enchants but also, uses her music as a tool to address social injustices.
Her talent has seen her perform and record with very notable musical legends in Africa and beyond. In 2012, she was one of the artistes who joined African Express Train, performing alongside Baba Maal, Rokia Traore and Damon Albarn. She also performed with the legendary Paul McCartney.
Fatoumata Diawara was also featured on the Damon Albarn and Flea album Rocket Juice and the Moon. She will be supported on the night by Sherifa Gunu and Suga .
The Francophone Festival runs from Saturday 12th March to Saturday 19th March, 2016.
