SARKODIE feat Edem – MORE MONEY, MORE PROBLEMS (MMMP)

More Money, More Problems! How many times have we heard this phrase in music and conversations? How many times have the curse and blessings of being rich being discussed?
Rapper Sarkodie reminds us of this haggard yet relevant phrase made popular by Biggie Smalls, on his new single ‘MMMP’ which features longtime friend Edem.

On the song, Sarkodie broods over the burdens of being rich (once you make it, everybody comes for help) as well as the being poor (the elders say all is vanity but being poor is a travesty). The two rappers however, urge all to strive to make money despite the burden it brings since being broke is worse.
One of the things Sark has perfected through this years is the ability to ride on banging hip hop beats and still drop life-related gems over them, offering the listener both pleasure and knowledge.

M.ANIFEST feat Worlasi – 100%

M.anifest chose not to call out any rapper on his new song 100%. He, however, didn’t shy away from throwing subliminal shots at some rapper(s) whiles trumping his own qualities.
Featuring new music sensation Worlasi, M.anifest, who recently was in a rap ‘beef’ with Sarkodie dismissed his ‘foes’ recent response to his ‘god MC’ tune: I’m an expensive guy you want cheap side?/Can’t strong arm me into a weak vibe’. Then came many other subliminal shots.
Despite the Mo Beat produced 100% blending afro-trap and borbor sounds into a good mix, I think M.anifest, in his attempt to project his African/Ghanaian credentials on wax, overdid it. That borbor sound could have been avoided.

SISTER DEBORAH – GHANA JOLLOF

If you thought Sister Deborah’s Ghana Jollof lyrics was hilarious, the video is absolutely bonkers. The Prince Dovlo directed video captures, in a hilarious manner the magic of Ghana Jollof at swaying Nigerian men from their very own Naija jollof.

With appearances by rapper Wanlov and Mutombo DaPoet dressed in their nicely made geley and wrappers (as wives) despite their antics, having their jollof rejected by Simpol Tinz (Glen) and his guys for Sister Deborah’s jollof is damn funny. The video also had appearances by singer Lady Jay and actress Nina Samona. And, how mean of Sister Deborah to slight the Naija way of making jollof: pouring tin fish and its sauce over rice! Ouch!

PETRAH feat Reekado Banks – BABY

Petrah is one of the new female singers gradually knocking at the gates of mainstream fame. She has over a period released a few songs that has received praise from music fans. Her new single Baby features Reekado Banks (from Don Jazzy’s Marvins Label).
A love song which rides on a beat similar to Ne-Yo’s Miss Independent, Petrah and Reekado Banks share their affection for each other. The video has some memorable scenes like the bedroom scene with Petrah clad in a white evening dress lying in bed with those lined bulbs illuminating softly through the dark enclosure.
