AYAT RELEASES VIDEO FOR YAUWA
AYAT has had an incredible 2016 since bursting on the scene in 2015. With incredible energy, catchy rap style and enchanting stage presence, the Zamani has been winning in more ways than one.
Yesterday, he unveiled his new video for Yauwa (a hausa word which means Good work). The video shows a bunch of kids walking through the streets of Madina-AYAT’s hood-rapping out the lyrics of the song. The leader of the kids, draped in Adinkra inspired body paintings, was inspired after watching a live performance of AYAT on TV (PhreakOut Live series). Was AYAT telling us his own story regarding how he got inspired to become a musician?
The Yauwa video concept reminds me of Obrafour’s Ako video. My only issue was that, the number of kids featured in the video could have been more and also, a concert-like scene could have been staged for the kid to thrill a gathered audience. However, AYAT not featuring in the video is a huge plus. T’Challa who directed the video did well with showcasing a section of Madina to viewers. Yauwa, Anfutuo the Dodo!
