Success, they say has many fathers. This popular refrain is the theme explored by the FOKN Bois – consisting of M3NSA and Wanlov- on their latest EDM tinged, afropop jam ”Wo Nim Mi”. The taut EDM synths and the seductive bounce makes this a jam.
“Wo Nim Mi”, translate as “now you claim me because I’ve made it’. The song title emphasizes the penchant of people to associate with you when you make it rather than helping you from the start. In short, the FOKN Bois are celebrating their ‘success by rubbing it in the faces of those who could have helped’, as the Youtube description goes.
This message is accurately alluded to by M3NSA in his opening verse: “them tell we say we no dey qualify/ them tell we say we no fit come inside/so outside we start dey multiply”, finally revealing how everybody is now clamouring a piece of them.
Wanlov shines light on M3NSA, first by taking a dig at the naysayers who ‘dissed, dissed these guys” before mischievously airing out the intentions M3NSA has for some popular Ghanaian female celebrities in a style only Wanlov can pull off.
Produced by M3NSA, “Wo Nim Mi” features Medikal and is the lead single off their soon to be released EP, “Afrobeats LOL”.
The crisp looking, all white video clearly reflect the celebratory theme of the song. The director, Prince Dovlo and the artists, along with friends created a party scene, including some nostalgic moments- like the alikoto game Wanlov, M3NSA, Medikal indulged in and those korgon dance moves.
Judging from some faces in the video, it won’t be wrong to assume this was shot a couple of months back. The fun on set was palpable considering how excited the likes of Sister Deborah, Eli (Two Cedi), Bright Ackwerh, Khadi, Nii Kotei among others looked in the video. Great to see Uncle Gyedu- Blay Ambolley make a cameo.
